The MyUltralightStove!© addresses an issue concerning wet weather, and snow campers.  Most ultralight stoves that I am aware of require the stove to be insulated from the cold or wet ground.  That way the alcohol can boil and vaporize and give you heat.  Idesigned MyUltralightStove so you can cook on wet and very cold ground directly without insulation.   Of course if you are going to be cooking on the snow, you’ll need a baseboard to put the stove on.

The benefit for you is even in wet and cold weather, this is light it and use it.  And at 21 grams that’s pretty respectable performance and convenient.

The first impressive stove I came across was from Jim Woods and his Super Cat stove.  He has good ideas of how things should be.  I respect that and have made many Super Cat stoves.  At one point a group scouting summer camp counselors even got into making them.

I learned things about alcohol ultralight stoves; mainly that they tip over too easily.  When backpacking, conditions are rarely perfect.  Where I backpack in the Ventana Wilderness, it’s primitive and a flat surface is a luxury.  That means one bad move and your food is on the ground.  You don’t want a tipsy stove to be one more straw on the camels back to cause a cooking problem.

That’s why I look at ultralights differently.  What you see is my first production design that works really well.  So when I showed it to a half a dozen of my friends they all said it was cool.  And that’s how the name came to be.
